The X-33 is paving the way for the next-generation Single-Stage-to-Orbit (SSTO) vehicle.

Developed by Lockheed Martin, it is nearing the testing phase.

The X-33 is a 1/2-scale unmanned experimental prototype for the future VentureStar® Reusable Launch Vehicle (RLV), dubbed "America's Space Plane."
